My agent has asked for another revision of my novel, Strengthen the Things Which Remain. I am in a six-month time frame to work with a developmental editor to improve characters and dialogue. This will be my third major revision in two years!
I have been preparing for several days for the Florida Christian Writers Conference 2014 in Leesburg, Florida. Updating, sprucing, revising, planning, reviewing, blogging, printing chapters, printing synopses, editing my elevator pitch. I am ready. My goal is to network, network, network and to pitch my first novel, now titled Strengthen the Things Which Remain.
This article on the new advanced UAV is an example of what I think of as the “writing Zeitgeist.” I find that before/after/while I write things in my novels there are often indications in the news and in other writer’s books that I haven’t even read or seen. I wrote about drones based on insect forms two years ago and just a few weeks ago there was a news item about that being a direction for drones and mini-robots.
The journey of a thousand miles must begin with the first step. This is my first step: there are so many voices in this world and I have chosen to add another one into the mix. However, I have to ask myself what is my vision and purpose in this endeavor? Will I choose to be edifying and actualizing? Or will I choose to be toxic and rabid? Will I choose to be nourishing and inspiring? Or will I choose to demean and obfuscate? The outcome remains to be seen as this personal evolution unfolds. I hope mostly for good reports and that I will think on these things: whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report.
